I have been waiting for this since forever! Last week, Mike and I finally got the chance to try Din Tai Fung over at SM Megamall.
We arrived at 1:30PM right after the rush of lunch goers but we still had to wait for twenty minutes before being shown inside. While waiting, you can already pre-order using the piece of paper they’ll hand over to you.
Mike and I ordered the following:
Time for good and honest feedback. I was very disappointed with their noodles. Mike’s Braised Beef Noodle was a little bit cold and you could already see the oil sticking on the side of the bowl. As for my Shrimp and Pork Wanton Soup, the noodles were okay but the wanton itself was good. After this experience, I won’t be coming back for their noodle soups.
For their Xiao Long Bao, it was good but not great. That’s probably my fault. I’ll admit I didn’t thoroughly enjoy my meal because I was too busy taking pictures which meant our XLB got cold. It’s not that good if you eat it cold. The broth inside didn’t have that melt in your mouth kind of feeling that I was expecting. 🙁
An interesting fact is their Philippine menu has a bunch of special dishes. This was done to cater the Filipino market. One of theit specialties is the Chocolate Lava Xiao Long Bao. I do not regret ordering it, taking photos of it, and eating it. It literally melted in my mouth.
Overall, I’m a little disappointed at myself because I was too focused on taking pictures instead of eating the food. This meant that my food got cold BUT I had good pictures. Honestly what good is pictures if I wasn’t able to enjoy my meal.
I’m definitely eating here again and hopefully have less pictures but a more satisfying experience. 😀
