It was only just a dream

Weirdly enough, I had this dream last night.

My boyfriend and I were vacationing at the beautiful island of Bohol, Philippines. We were on our second day which we decided to dedicate for relaxing and sunbathing under the sun.

All decked out in my bathing suit and hat, I was headed to the beach to meet my boyfriend when all of a sudden, a gust of wind blew my hat away. I was about to run for it when I felt an earthquake.

I got down on my knees to wait for the earthquake to pass. After a few minutes, I brush the sand off and look all around me.

As I looked towards the sea, I notice a big wave forming a hundred meters from the shore. I shout my boyfriend’s name at the top of my lungs. I shout to the other people that a receding shoreline is a sign of a tsunami.

My boyfriend runs toward me and motions me to go back the resort. I follow his instruction and run to the lobby with him trailing me. I shout at the receptionist and tell her that a tsunami is coming and ask her where is the highest point of the resort is or the island. She tells me the resort is only three floors and that the highest point in the island is miles away. She shoves past me as she tries to see with her own eyes what was happening.

The moment she sees what was happening, she is filled with panic and runs. My boyfriend and I were left there standing in the middle of the lobby as hundreds of people ran in all directions. My boyfriend looks at me and asks “What now?”

To keep it short and simple: I'm twenty-seven years old. Still plenty young, but not as young as I used to be.

  1. Wow, what a dream! I am so glad that it was only a dream. Sounds like there could be good things. A beautiful vacation AND your boyfriend can count on you to make important decisions in the midst of a disaster. Xoxoxo.

    • I did not know it happened in India too 😔 it’s very sad and scary! I cannot begin to imagine if I was there myself and had to see it with my own eyes.
