I’ve come to realize that the hardest part is always the start. It doesn’t matter what it is you are trying to do or accomplish, that first step is always the hardest to take. Just like blogging. Blogging is viewed as something relatively easy but when examined closely it slowly becomes overwhelming to the point you don’t know where to start.
Which brings me to today’s post. I want to share with you some tips about overcoming the hurdle of starting blogging (or anything really).
1 – Know who you are
As I’ve said, the start is always the hardest. That’s why before starting or completely immersing yourself in this hobby, it is important to know what kind of blogger you are or want to be.
2 – Get inspired and do your research
Take time to see what’s out there and see the millions of bloggers and their unique (or not so unique) styles. Doing this gives you an idea of what you want to be and develop the image you want for your personal space.
3 – Create a plan
This is one of the most pivotal steps. After getting a feel for what blogging can be used for or what kinds of blogs are out there, you now how to create a plan on how you want to start blogging. Questions like, which is the best blogging platform out there should be asked and these should guide you on how to successfully start a blog.
There are tons of how-to’s all over the internet that should guide and inspire you to create a site that would reflect who you are and what you want the world to see.
4 – Follow through and do it
Creating a plan is just half of it, executing it will be the other half. This is the trickiest part of starting. It can either inspire or demotivate you. You will face challenges and difficulties while setting up your space or as you try to put into words your thoughts but always remember to just keep on pushing. Nothing is easy! Take those challenges and disappointments as lessons and strive to be better.
5 – Enjoy the adventure
As you continue with blogging, you’ll realize tons of things – maybe the person I wanted to be (as defined in tip #1) isn’t who I really want to be. Don’t get discouraged or sidetracked by those. Remember that you are allowed to grow and evolve as time goes by. You are also allowed to try different things and take a step towards roads you haven’t traveled to see what works best for you. Blogging is an adventure for knowing yourself and it is best enjoyed.
But the best tip out there really is to commit. If you have the commitment to make it work through thick and thin, you can successfully start blogging/or a new hobby. As much as starting is hard, finding the courage within yourself is the toughest. It is so easy to stop anytime but if your heart is already ready and willing, it’ll make things just a tiny bit complicated.
I hope somehow these tips inspire you to start a new hobby or start a blog or improve your blog or whatever. 🙂
This post is inspired by my friend who wants to start a blog but hasn’t done so. I am but willing a teacher waiting for his student.
I know these tips and post is really out of nowhere but I swear, you can use these tips for anything, really. You can even use this as you start a relationship – know yourself, get inspired by analyzing your past relationships (aka research), create a plan on how to be a better partner, execute your plan 100% of the time, enjoy being in a relationship, and commit to it all day, everyday! 😀
