Awards + more

I got nominated to some awards and if you’ve been following the blog for some time, you’d know I don’t really follow the rules I’m a bad girl. Instead, I just answer the questions. Lame, I know. I just don’t like nominating people cause it feels like I’m only picking a handful from all the amazing blogs I get to read and interact with.

What House of Cards Taught Me About Politics

If you don’t watch House of Cards, you should. It’s about the Underwoods and their quest for political glory. It’s dirty and it gets extremely violent. If you’re not up to date with the latest happenings in the Philippines, you should. It’s a freak show. People killing people and political propaganda left and right. * * * If there’s anything House of Cards has taught me about politics is, it’s dirty. If you don’t have the balls to play the game, stay the hell away. It’s so fucking dirty, it’ll twist you and your principles. If you aren’t ready to give your everything, don’t even dare start. I salute the writers of this show because they give you something to think about after each season. It makes you wonder if it’s all even possible. And if it is, what the actual fuck! * * * What’s happening in the Philippines is catastrophic. Every time I listen, read, or watch the news, there’s a new person killed over this massive drug war. It’s gotten to a point wherein …

Manila International Book Fair 2017

The Manila International Book Fair was held last September 13-17 at the SMX Convention Center. It is a five-day affair for all book lovers out there. There are a lot of exhibitors and events happening across the five days but to be honest, the only reason why I wanted to go was for the 20% off for all books at National Bookstore and Fully Booked. Mike and I planned to be there by 10 AM. But because he lived so far from civilization, we arrived there at almost 11. The line towards the entrance was snake-like. It definitely discouraged us but we were already there so we still tried. Luckily, we got in after thirty minutes. The National Bookstore booth was right in front of us when we entered. We tried our best to find this book but life had other plans for me. I wasn’t able to buy it. 🙁 It’s quite a  disappointment but I’m sure I’ll still be able to read it…somehow. ps. If you find it, please tell me where! I’m really …

Music Mondays: Sam Smith

I love Sam Smith. His voice is heaven sent and his lyrics are all A+. It’s no wonder why after dropping his new single last September 8th, it was on repeat on for me. He still uses his tried and tested acoustic with gospel formula for this song but honestly, I don’t even care if it somehow sounds like all his previous songs. I just missed his voice. Call it the fan girl in me. I’m never gonna let you close to me Even though you mean the most to me ‘Cause every time I open up, it hurts So I’m never gonna get too close to you Even when I mean the most to you In case you go and leave me in the dirt At first, I couldn’t understand what the lyrics were all about. It seemed to me like it’s about a person protecting himself from serious relationships. After listening to the song a few times and trying to internalize it, it somehow felt like it was about a person wanting to …

Let’s have coffee

It’s my first weekend in a while where I actually feel motivated to write a let’s have coffee post. I used to write this weekly update religiously but I stopped cause my life seemed so repetitive and boring. Anyway, today I’m just going to write. I do hope you stay for some coffee.
